With two rounds down, and just two to go, and with Sergio Garcia still holding the lead in the British Open at Carnoustie. Garcia had a solid round on a difficult scoring day. With the Belly putter being the talk of the Open. (Garcia was 158th in putting on the PGA Tour last year.) If Garcia does hold on to win the British Open, then golfers everywhere will be trying out a belly putter at their local pro shop. Many of them will put one in their bags, if I had to bet.
But is it wimpy for the 27-year-old Spaniard to revert to the belly putter? Gene Wojciechowski of ESPN.com seems to think so: "But if he does win — and Garcia has gakked away his share of potential majors in the past — he’ll have to do it with, yuck, a belly putter. What’s next, a ball retriever in his bag?
Your uncle who suffers from osteoporosis uses a belly putter. A Champions Tour player with a belly uses a belly putter. A dashing Spaniard on his way to claiming the signature win of his career does not use a belly putter. It’d be like Bond wearing a clip-on tie.
But Garcia was so desperate that about a week ago he disconnected his conventional putter from its life-support system and switched to the belly. It works, but now he looks like he’s putting with a garden hoe."
Wojciechowski goes on to say "El Nino would putt with a car fender if he thought that would help."
Ah, the infamous belly putter. In a way I'm kinda not surprised more pros don't use this. I think it's because it's so easy to use, that they feel like it's cheating. I mean come on, the dang thing is glued to your belly and there's no possible way to not make a good stroke unless you move the core of your body.

I'll have to totally agree with you on that one, Funny thing is... Garcia lost the British Open Championship because he missed his last putt a few feet out with that Belly Putter. LOL, The Irony in that statement.
