the course i play on have golf leagues 3 times a week, but when they play, place signs on the green that notes, closest to the pin, longest drives and ect. what are the rules on this, because i have played behind them and had a very possable hole in one ruined by hitting sign that was 5 inches from the hole.
    thanks all

The best setup I've seen for closest to the pin is where a tape measure is kept with the sign, and the signed is always placed in the fringe area of the green. Talk to the pro about using this method.

    Hope this helps!

My senior group uses these signs every Tuesday. But we consistently have over 100 members on the course every week, so the course is closed to everyone else on Tuesdays until after 12 noon. Our rule is that if you finish your round on one of the four par three holes, you bring in the sign. If the sign doesn't get brought in, then the group vice president has the duty to go out to retrieve the signs, so it doesn't cause a problem. Of course, having the tape and sign would be a better solution. We did have a member hit a sign which was located just in front of the hole, possibly costing him a hole in one. He marked the sign and then placed it an equal distance behind the hole so that no one else would have the same problem. This might be a suggestion. If your shot is 5" directly in front of the hole, place the marker an equal distance behind the hole.
