Birkdale Golf Club in Huntersville, NC will be the host course for St. Mark's Episcopal Church Outreach Golf Tournament May 5, 2008.
  1.
Just an update on yesterday's tournament. Tentaively it looks like we are in the black for our first tournament with 44 sponsors and 60 golfers! Players rated the event an A+ on organization, prizes and raffles and FUN! The only folks advised would improve the event would be to have a food and beverage sponsor next year. I told to consider it a done deal!
One of the highlighyts of the St. Mark's Episocpal Church Outreach Golf tournament was the presence of two golf's legends. CIAA Most Valuable Golfer 1976 and Tournament Medalist 1976, 77 and 78, NAIA District 26 All American for 1976 from Fayetteville State, golf professional Andre Springs. My other big name golfer was Walter Morgan. Mr. Morgan holds the age-shooting record on golf's major professional tours, playing the Champions Tour. In 2002, at age 61, Morgan shot a 60 in the AT&T Canada Senior Open Championship. We had lots of folks show but could have used more. Andre and Walter played with two rookies, my husband and my fellow golf student. They came in second. The team from St. Alban's in Davidson took first place yesterday. Pretty funny, my ringer team was from the Rector's team from a fellow church!
Anyway, look for the 2nd annual St. Mark's Outreach Golf Tournament next year! My goal every year is to make the tournament more fun every time.
