    Hi everyone!

In my search for the “holy grail” of drivers I need to find myself a shaft that is extremely tip stiff.

I’m after a few reccomendations, I have been reccomended a Diamana Whiteboard, Fujikura VTLT and VT80D, Grafalloy Axis and an Accra SC80.

I am keen on trying the Accra but the web site that they have seems to promote their shafts as having an active tip section… not something that I am keen on.

Any advice on what might be suitable would be appreciated as some of these options are a little expensive and I don’t want to gamble $500-600 on something without having some idea that it is going to suit well.

    Cheers!

    Adam

I use a software model that has about a 1000 different shafts on it. with there cpms. example. mitsubishi dia 83x butt flex 259 41’ 185 36’ 213 31’ 248 21’302 16’380 11’858 cpms it shows points along the shaft. I can list more if you like ,but can I ask why you want a tip stiff shaft, because there are thing that shaft can and cann’t do,are you looking for a tip stiff shaft only. By the way that accra sc80x is one stiff shaft.

I want accuracy first and formost, a flat launch with low spin is what I am after.

At the moment my launch characteristics are almost ideal, I am using a Brisdgestone J33R 460 10.5 with an Accuflex Evolution Lite X flex tipped 1.5 inches, what I am after is something that will give me the same sort of launch characteristics but in a softer flex.

Grafalloy bi-matrix prototype. The tip section is steel. This shaft has a stiff butt section and is quite tip stiff as well in all flexes due to the steel tip section but especially in the x flex. It also has quite along parallel tip that can be tipped a bit to make it stiffer as they only come in R, S and X. I picked up a few FW (fairway) models which are only 44 inches raw length but only cost me about $60  each. The driver models are 46 inches but cost about $100 . These shafts are no longer in production I believe so cost has come down alot from the $300 not that long ago. Worth a try for $100 cheers

Can be had quite cheaply now.

I’ve tried the Bi-Matrix proto, I’ve got one sitting around doing nothing, it was pretty average IMO, it felt dead, sounded worse and it was waaaaayyyyy too soft in the butt section.

I’m sure for the right player it would be great but it didn’t seem to work out for me.

I’m lucky that it didn;t cost too much the new shaft is probably going to cost me an arm and a leg so I don’t want to guess that it is going to be the right one ;)

hmmmmm.ok Graman 780 plays very similar to the whiteboard and costs a third of the price. There is a guy here in oz who sells there gear, part of the long drivers assoc. I would suggest contacting him. Send me your email addy and I will pass on his info to you if you like. He is a nice guy and you could pick his brain. Another cheapie but goodie would be the sabre tour vector in x at about $15USD. These are real ‘boards’ and low flight/low spin. Or maybe you need to look at the oziks and really burn some dough? good luck

I use a e360 fuji shaft in reg, the butt is softish but the tip is very stiff. the shaft plays stiff , but with all most a xflex tip it works for me.Don’t worry about the ball spin thats basily a by-product of lanch angle and trust me launch monitors can lie trust your ball flight. When I get home i’ll look through my software and see what I find. If you like

My experience with tip stiff shafts... I would go with the Fujikura VTLT. Very fine craftsmanship and they are accurate and plus they feel great! See if you can't try one out.
