What is a Golf Course Handicap? A Course handicap is a number that tells the player how many strokes they are allowed to take during a golf round that is handicapped, But it isn't the same as the handicap index. The handicap index is used to determine course handicap.
Bogey Golf Links
All golf courses normally have a chart that's posted that show the course handicaps for golfers based on their handicap index and the slope rating for the tees played. For example, the chart may show that a 14.5 handicapper playing tees with a slope of 108 has a course handicap of 13; or playing tees with a slope of 138 has a course handicap of 16. A course handicap will account for the slope rating and can award the player extra strokes on difficult courses, or the opposite, take away strokes on easier courses.
