Don't Take The Putter Back Past The Right Foot

For most average putts, a good rule of thumb is to take the club back only as far as your right foot on the back swing. The tendency for many golfers is to take the club back too far, and then they decelerate on their front swing through the ball. For a good putting stroke you want to be accelerating through the ball when putting, even on short putts. Stopping the back swing at your right foot will help promote positive acceleration of putting through the ball. On very short putts or on very fast greens, shorten your back swing even more. Likewise, when faced with a very long putt, your back swing may go a little beyond your right foot. The key thought is to accelerate the putter through the ball, regardless of the distance.

Thanks for the information. I am a left though, does this mean not to go past my left foot? Probably does though. Have a good day to all viewers of this site.
