What is the perfect age to start getting lessons in golf? Is there any ideal or right age for a kid to get instructions? A neighbor's 6-year-old kid is taking lessons in golf three times a week. Is this good in terms of the kid's ability to withstand the physical strain that the game usually cause?
I notice in golf ranges that golfers are getting younger and younger. So I guess golf is just like all other sports, that the younger you start them the better because kids are more flexible and training them would be easy. I think the rule is , so long as the child can already hold a club in place and can swing it up without much effort. The child should also be old enough to know and understand golf rules. We don't want kids chasing each other with golf clubs in the field. Uh-uh.
Alwaysright, that makes a lot of sense. My son has a plastic golf set, but I want to get him a realy iron, maybe for Christmas. I was afraid it would look pushy, but he can hit the balls outside all day and won't come in unless we make him.
I think that kids that young should have fun. They shouldn't be tied down to something that structured at such a young age. If you want to get serious about golf when you're older, then I say get some lessons. But when you're young a few pointers here and there will suffice.
We don't have indoor golf here, or that would be a great idea.
Flubb, I agree iwth you, but my little one is showing interest. I don't want to get him lessons or anything, just want to know when I can introduce a proper club to him.
I think that should a be a decision that a child makes. I think that if they are old enough to realize that you have an interest in golf, then I think you should enjoy the fruits of that sport. I think it takes responsibility as well though because golf clubs can become dangerous in the wrong hands.
