Golf tip: It's all in the wrists

If you would like to be good at hitting pitch and chip shots, then it's important you know how to hinge your wrists correctly. Trying to hit a short shot with stiff arms and wrists is not the right way to go about it. How can you hinge your wrists correctly? Start by putting your hands together, with your palms facing, and point your thumbs up. Now then, if you point your thumbs toward yourself, and you have properly hinged your wrists.

Do your thumbs have to be out because alot of times I put my thumbs in and my swing seems to be fine. I never really have a problem with my chip shots.

I was told by my instructor that your thumbs should always be out. So I would think that it would affect your game if they weren't

I thought the trick is in the wrists, and now it's in the position of your thumbs? I say two thumbs up for you girls. That's a good tip, Sac.

I think in any game you just have to learn to be supple or flexible around joint areas.
