    A Golf Handicap

Handicap is number used to determine the level of golfer that you are. The lower the handicap, the better the player you are. Handicaps are determined by a formula put out by the PGA but is basically your average score of your top 25% of games minus 72. If you are an 8 handicap, when playing your best golf, you will average 80 strokes per round. If you are an 8 handicap and you play someone who is an 18 handicap, you would be required to give that player 10 strokes in stroke play to make the match even. It is basically a way that good and bad players can play together and still be competitive.

Thats a good thing, I really wouldn't want to golf against someone who had a lower handicap than I did because I wouldn't really deem that as being fair but I think sometimes, to golf against someone with a lower handicap than you is good in some ways. I think you would learn more.

But as you said, it might be good for your technique to golf against some one a little better than you. I mean it only makes sense doesn't it. It has to be a challenge somewhere.

I think so also. I believe that by playing someone with a lower handicap, is not only a challenge, and by observing their game you could pick up a few tips to lower your handicap.

Yep that is so true, I have always played against someone who had more experience than I did. I use to go to the country club and I would golf with my fathers pal and man they had so much game it was ridiculous. They had been playing for years.

It only makes sense, it's like learning the piano but having someone who plays as well as you do teaching you how to play better. It just doesn't work.

But you have to admit that it is less intimidating golfing with someone who is about equivalent to you as far as their games goes.

That's funny, I have always been told that my handicap was showing up for a round.

I know that I need to lower my handicap in this field. I wish i had more time in my hands to practice.
