Is it ever a good idea to golf in the rain? I have heard of people getting hit by lightning, while playing during a thunder storm.

Good question, haha... I think if you really wanted to golf in the rain, by all means go ahead. But I would recommend against golfing in a thunder storm, I dunno if golfers are more likely to get hit by lighting than anyone else outdoors in a storm, but I wouldn't take my chances.

I read in the paper a few months back about a woman who was walking to her car and was struck by lightening. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and it was finally figured that the lightening originated from a storm that was over 50 miles away. The lightening traveled sideways that far. You just never know. So I say if there is no obvious signs of lightening then go for it.

I don't really deal with storms,I don't go out in them whats so ever because they aren't prejudice when it comes to striking. I don't think that golfers are more prone ut to golf in the rain is difficult because it makes it harder to focus on the ball along with your swing.
