    Hello guys..

I have just recently decided to take up golf and on Tuesday went out and played my first round with a mate. Suffice it to say I have a lot of practice in front of me as I finished the 18 holes with 143 strokes 71 over par !!!!

Got me thinking what did you guys score the first time you went out for a round?

Your not alone, I shot 65 over par my first time out when i was 14. You'll have to update us on your next round, I bet you'll improve atleast 20 strokes...

Hey guys, I have never played golf but just bought my first golf clubs. Obviuosly I didn't spend too much on them since I have never played. I just want to ask...what is the best way to start and what should I do to start? I surely don't want to go to a course or driving range and embarrass myself.

Do ya have any friends that play? Cause you could go out with them and hit a few at the range. You could also get those woofle balls and practice hitting those in your back yard before going the the golf range. But, i do recommend at least starting off at the range first, before taking on the course.

    Hey guys what's up,
I know exactly what all of you are talking about. The first time I went out and played 9 holes, I shot a 72...so that averages out to about 140's for 18 holes of golf. Now I am averaging between 100-110 for 18 holes. I'm looking to break 100 strokes, but have not yet done it. I have only been golfing for about 1 year now. Let me know where you are at with your golf game.

I started out about the same also. I've broke 100 a couple of times within 3 to 4 months of playing now i shoot in the upper 90's. I put a lot of focus on my short game. Chipping and putting especially :)

The practice net is a good idea... 121 on your first 18holes isn't that bad. If you practice every other day and play a round a week, i bet you could really shave off some scores.

only problem with net is that you don't know where the ball is going. still, you can tell if you're hitting solid.

Maybe that not such a bad thing. If you really don't know where the ball is going, but you're left to focus on wether you hit the ball solid or not. I think that could be really good for your swing.

I think admin is right. It's about the feel of the ball and hitting it square on. You can tell by the hit if you did it right,

But, as a new player, they may want the joy of seeing what their actions have created... perhaps a nice hard hit? :D

I am just about as new. You only shot a 71 over par? Lucky you. I don't even want to tell you my first score. Let's just say there was a lot of laughter going on in the foursome.

I am new to golf and just played my first round Saturday. I hd only been to the driving range four times and thought it was time to try the course. I played a par 72 18 hole course and shot a 103. I didn't think it was too bad. But I now know I am hooked!!!

I'm a tad bit jealous of that. You say not too bad? Yeah right. For your first go that is out of sight.

I've been golfing for a few years now, about 4 to be exact. I remember the first time i went out. I knew that i did not do so good, probably got around the same as you in 18 holes, about 140 in 18. LOL. Those were the good ole days of my first golfing experiences.

Bad days are good days to me. If I play bad, then I use that to improve my overall game. my first time out I had a score of 123 for 18. I didnt mind the score being that high because I had fun playing golf that day.

I didn't do to bad my first time out ever. I think I shot around a 110, I had been on the range for a while before though practicing :)
