Michael Marshburn captured his first Carolinas Golf Association junior title

Michael Marshburn captured his first Carolinas Golf Association junior title. Marshburn, a rising senior at Green Hope High, finished with a three-day total of 2-over 212 at Chechessee Creek Club.

Joye had the low round of the day with a 3-under 67 to finish tied for first. In the playoff, Marshburn and Joye missed the par-5 10th hole’s green. Joye blasted out of the greenside bunker to about 4 feet. Marshburn then chipped to about 1 foot and tapped in for birdie. Joye missed his birdie putt, which ended the playoff.

Both Marshburn and Joye will be invited to represent the Carolinas in the Carolinas-Virginias Junior Team Matches, Aug. 9-10 at The Club at Irish Creek in Kannapolis, NC.

The Club at Irish Creek is a spectacular golf course created by Davis Love III. Love’s Signature Course takes full advantage of the extensive lakefront, the rolling terrain and the mature forest.
