Ravenscroft Student makes Amateur cut

    Ravenscroft sophomore Wilson Day made the cut at the U.S. Junior Amateur with a two-round score of 151 (7-over par), finishing tied for 51st place on Wednesday, July 23 at Shoal Creek, Ala.

    Day will face Rak Cho of Korea, the #19 qualifier, in the first round of Match Play at 5:33 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23.

    Day, whose older brother, Chad, is a freshman on the N.C. State men’s golf team, helped lead the Ravens to their second-straight NCISAA 3-A State Championship in May.

    The Shoal Creek course is 7,251 yards long, and it was designed by Jack Nicklaus. The course opened in 1976, and it has been host to two PGA Championships and one U.S. Amateur Championship.
