One of the top 100 courses you can play in North Carolina and home of “The Bear”, Legacy’s 18th hole. The Legacy Golf Links is, without a doubt, one of the more challenging layouts in the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen area. Designed by Jack Nicklaus II, the Legacy golf course opened in 1991. The land it occupies is primarily rolling hills and terrain. Though this course has a hills, it can still be comfortable to walk. This North Carolina course features 7,019 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 73.2 and it has a slope rating of 132 on Bermuda grass. There are plenty of trees on the course which can prove challenging and alter your shots. This course has plenty of water hazards to pass around to, fourteen of the eighteen holes water hazards come into play. Lakeside views from holes #5, #10, #11 and #15 are truly beautiful. The large greens are superb, elevated, and they roll at a quick pace. One that is appropriate for greens of this size – severity and always protected by water hazards, trees and sand bunkers. You’ll find yourself staring down a 25 foot putt, thinking you have a real chance to make it and this is because you do! Likewise, the fairways and rough are equally in great shape and excellent. The element of luck can be a player in your score at Legacy Golf Links than other courses. Bring anything less than your best tee game, and you’re going to be in for a long day of fishing shots out of the bunkers, taking a penalty on a water hazard or hiking in the trees on every single hole.
